HEATHFIELD CEMETERY
TABLE OF FEES AND CHARGES wef 1 January 2024
(Agreed by the General Purposes Committee 20.11.2023 and
reviewed in November 2024)
The fees and charges set out below in Parts 1, 2 and 3 apply where the deceased
person, or the person to whom an exclusive right of burial has been granted is, or
immediately before death was, a resident in the area covered by the Town Council of
North Petherton. They also apply, at the discretion of the Town Clerk, to persons who
were formerly residents of the town, but who had to move to residential care by virtue of
their health.
Double the stated fees will be charged for interments and Exclusive Rights of Burial
(ERB) (purchased together with an interment request) based upon the place of
residence of the deceased.
Double fees for the purchase of an Exclusive Right of Burial (ERB) will be based upon
the applicant’s place of residence at the time the purchase request is made.
Part 1 - Interments (the cost stated Includes grave digging)

For the interment in a grave:
(a) Of the body of a person under the age of 18
(b) Of the body of a person over the age of 18:

Exhumation:
(a)The reburial fee is three times the interment fee
(b) Cremated remains twice the interment fee.
Part 2 – Exclusive Rights of Burial in Earthen Graves:

For the exclusive right of burial in a full burial plot in the Lawn or Traditional
section, (8ft. x 4ft)

Part 3 – Cancellation Fee
Where an interment has been requested and the Town Council has agreed and
scheduled the date a charge will be made for any subsequent cancellation. The
cancellation fee will be 50% of the standard interment fee plus a £50.00 administration
charge.
Part 4 – Unable to Prove Previously Purchased Exclusive Rights of Burial
Where neither the Town Council nor an appropriate family member is able to provide
evidence that an Exclusive Right of Burial has been purchased for a plot and the
permission of an ERB holder is required e.g. for the installation of a memorial, an added
inscription on a memorial or a further interment in the plot, the ERB should be
purchased by the appropriate person at the ERB rate which is current at the time of the
request and the grant will be for 100 years from the date of the payment
Part 5 - Transfers of Exclusive Rights of Burial
There will be no charge for transferring an Exclusive Right of Burial following the
interment of the ERB holder.
Part 6 Monuments, Gravestones, Tablets and Monumental inscriptions:
For the right to erect or place on a grave, or cremation plot in respect of
which the exclusive right of burial has been granted:

A memorial stone not exceeding 3 ft 6 inches in height in the
Traditional or Lawn Section:

In the Traditional Section only:
(a) A flat stone not exceeding 8 ft x 3 ft:

(c) Kerb or border stones enclosing a space not exceeding 8ft x 4ft: £130.00

In the Garden of Remembrance, only standard vases and tablets, which
must be ordered through the Town Council are permitted. Tablets and vases
can only be placed on grave spaces where the Exclusive Right of Burial
